“Does Your Ministry Need a Capital Stewardship Campaign?"

Capital Stewardship Campaigns are an absolute necessity for most ministries in order to prepare and qualify for the level of funding required to accomplish your building goals.  Most ministries spend what they receive from their congregations as tithes and gifts, so they are left with the difficulty of demonstrating to potential lenders the ability to take on additional debt.  Capital Stewardship Campaigns increase cash flow into a ministry and increase the ability to conserve cash assets prior to funding their new building.  Not only ministries that are considering a building project should launch a Capital Stewardship Campaigns.

There are many great reasons to begin a Capital Stewardship Program for your congregation:

  • Purchase a permanent facility
  • Expand into your next phase of development
  • Acquire the right parcel of land to fulfill your vision
  • Relocate your facilities to maximize your growth potential
  • Modernize and renovate your current facility
  • Purchase new ministry tools (A/V, Chairs, etc.)
  • Grow your staff

Potential Benefits of a Capital Stewardship Program include:

  • Challenges your members to a deeper commitment to the Lordship of Christ;
  • Creates enthusiastic ministry participation, as well as growth in sacrifice and generosity;
  • Releases new life and joy throughout your congregation;
  • Deepens the spiritual maturity of you congregation;
  • Improves fellowship;
  • Challenges the congregation to provide financially for continued Church growth;
  • Celebrate what God has done!

This program typically results in exponential ministry participation by your Church's membership. Weekly giving increases. Three-year commitments of 1.5 to 3 times your annual income are usually made on the Lordship Sunday.

Most Capital Stewardship Consultants charge a percentage of the total amount pledged.  A typical pledge period is three years with additional campaigns every year to include new members into the current pledge campaign.  We find that it generally takes three to six months for most Capital Stewardship Consultants to prepare a ministry for the actual pledge date.

We recommend that ministries regularly launch Capital Stewardship Campaigns not only to prepare for a new phase of development but as debt reduction campaigns.  A Capital Stewardship Campaign will allow your ministry to continue to allocate the majority of your financial resources into ministry and outreach rather than servicing building debt. Church Mortgage Solutions partners with multiple Capital Campaign Consultants who can assist your ministry with the preparation and execution of a successful capital campaign.
